There are disturbing reports from some women within Kampala, who allege tha their local council officials are asking for sex before providing them with free government relief food.
Yesterday at a press conference, the Chairperson of the Ugandan Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) and Budaka Woman MP, Hon. Pamela Nasiyo made the shocking revelation while addressing the press.
The Member of Parliament made it known to the public that she is receiving distressing calls from a ‘number of women accusing their leaders of asking for sex as a condition to give them food’.
“There is a lady who called me and said ‘I missed food in my area and when I called to the chairperson to get my share, he said that in order to give me food, I have to sleep with him,’” Nasiyo dropped the bombshell.
She made a call to Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema’s State House Anti-corruption Unit head, to investigate the matter and reign in on such leaders using the situation to take advantage of women.
UWOPA, through Hon. Nasiyo, applauded President Museveni for letting pregnant women access health services without any disturbances at checkpoints mounted by security forces during these trying times of coronavirus.
Much as the distribution of food by Government started on April 4 in Kampala and Wakiso, Political leaders have come out to say that the distribution has barely covered a quarter of the population in need.
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago says only a few homesteads have received food so far. According to him, government has only covered 15% of the Kampala population in need.
