Kabale Municipal authorities have halted the collection of local revenue after receiving complaints from the business community that the municipal revenue collectors were mistreating tax payers.
The decision to halt collection of revenue was reached on Tuesday during the Kabale Municipal Council budget conference for the financial year 2021/2022 held at Christ the King Church hall in Kabale Municipality.
It came after the vice president of the Kabale Municipal Development Forum (KMDF), Mrs Siffa Kyikonyogo noted that the forum has received numerous complaints that the revenue collectors use abusive languages and ask for bribes while collecting the revenue.
The Kabale Municipality Mayor, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha said that they have halted the collection of local revenue until the revenue collectors
are sensitized on what they should do.
