The Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi 11 turns 66 today.
Unlike other years when the Kabaka’s birthday celebration is a public affair, the 36th King of Buganda will celebrate the mileage in isolation due to the COVID-19 scare. Almost the same way he celebrated his 65th.
According to the Buganda Kingdom premier, Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga, the celebrations to mark this day will be scientific in nature. He says a few invited people are allowed at the kingdom palace to celebrate with the king.
The king’s birthday celebrations will be held under the theme of ending HIV/AIDS. Kabaka Mutebi was appointed as UNAIDs, Goodwill Ambassador for ending AIDS among men in the Eastern and Southern Africa.
Kabaka Mutebi was born at Mulago Hospital, Kampala in 1955. He is the son of Sir Edward Fredrick Muteesa II who reigned between 1939 and 1969. His mother was Nabakyala Sarah Nalule.
He is married and has five known children.
