Gov’t to Give Each Candidate Two Face Masks As Schools Reopen

Each candidate/final year student will receive two face masks as schools reopen according to the ministry of education and sports.

This  was said by the permanent secretary for ministry of education and sports Alex Kakooza while addressing journalists on Thursday at the Uganda Media Center.

Recently president Museveni while addressing the nation declared that finalists at all levels were to go back to school and higher institutions of learning on 15th October 2020 and outlined guidelines to be followed by school owners and parents.

Kakooza said that as a ministry, they agreed with the government to provide at least two face masks to each learner. However, learners should also go along with at least one more face mask.

According to the ministry of education, the total number of finalists in Uganda stands at 1.2 million which is less than 10% of the total number of learners in Ugandan schools which is 15 million.

Kakooza added that all government aided schools will meet other necessities such as personal protective equipments including temperature guns, sanitizers among others.

In case of any COVID-19 case in any school, the situation will be analysed and assessed by the ministry of health and appropriate action will be taken.

About School Fees Structure

Kakooza said that no school will be allowed to increase fees structures when schools are reopened and implored the school heads to engage their parents, guardians such that a convenient means of payment is got.
