2016 Ugandan Presidential aspirant and former Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba has been arrested for knocking dead, a pedestrian and injuring one other.
According to the Deputy Kampala Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened today (Wednesday) afternoon at Kibuli Junction, Kampala.
“The vehicle registration number “U” being driven by Prof. Baryamureeba Venansius knocked two female pedestrians and a perimeter wall, killing one person on spot. The deceased was identified as Mariam Jagenda and her body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem,” Owoyesigyire said.
Prof Baryamureeba is being detained at Kabalagala Police Station on charges of reckless driving causing death, and police has kicked off thorough investigation into the matter.
