Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago reportedly gave his in-dispute deputy Ms Sarah Kanyike a three-day ultimatum to confirm with him that she has either chosen to take or reject President Museveni’s job offer.
President Museveni, at the end of last week, sent a list of proposed appointments for City Hall’s technical wing in which he nominated Ms Kanyike, for the position of Director Gender, Community Service and Production at the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
The Lord Mayor maintains that if his disputed Deputy doesn’t make up her mind by tomorrow (Tuesday) when the ultimatum comes to an end, he will be left with no choice but to replace her for the position.
By law, according to the KCCA Act, the Lord Mayor appoints his deputy and the City Council just approves his choice.
President Museveni appointed OPM’s Dorothy Kisaka as the Executive Director, David Luyimbazi Ssali as her Deputy, Dr. Daniel Okello Ayen as Director Public Health and Environment and Public Service’s Grace Akullo, as the new Director Human Resource and Administration.
Our contacts within City Hall believe that Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s self proclaimed Preacher and Makerere University LC5 Woman Councillor Doreen Nyanjura is top of the nominations list for the Lord Mayor’s deputy.
Ms Nyanjura was the FDC candidate for the position of Speaker at City Hall when it was created earlier this year. She lost, unfortunately but was the Lord Mayor’s choice.
