Information on our desk suggests that young, unemployed girls, desperate to make a living off social media are using sex to grow their presence online and accumulate followers.
The victims, we have learnt are mostly school going girls that want to earn a little more income than their upkeep to support their millionaire lifestyles, when they’ve not even started earning.
At the bottom of this “lucrative” business, lies thirsty quarantine horn drenched social media bigwigs that Twitter users especially know as twelebs, influencers and opinion leaders online.
According to information we have received from our investigative reporters, the guys taking sex for followers are so shrewd in their business that just a few touches on a particular account may turn it into gold.
“Whatever means possible really. They can disguise it as a celeb’s account and people are fooled to follow it, or use follow-for-follow tactics but later unfollow guys once they reach your target.” Amanda (not real name) told The Ugandan Wire.
She said, in extreme circumstances, they can involve two psuedo accounts and engage them in a scripted t-war so that they gain attention of the gullible Ugandan social media audience.
“Tea! Guys love tea. Once someone threatens to release their ex’s nudes or screenshots showing how they hooked up, people can even activate real time notifications and follow massively.” Amanda further said.
Amanda shared some screenshots she gathered from her friends that clearly show the nature of these users.
“They’re straight to the point. They don’t do any background checks to certify who is texting them. That is how much they trust their system. Ela I am sorry for the girls that accepted and were banged for followers. They may get exposed soon now that the culprits see us talking.” Amanda said.
Earlier today morning, another Twitter user, a one Maggie Atwooki exposed “twelebs” that demand for sex for mere social media mentions. A mention is like a shout out to a colleague. But these twelebs, according to Ms Atwooki don’t know that a candle loses nothing by lighting another – instead, they want to invade their colleagues nether regions and set them on fire.
