Ugandan Member of Parliament in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Honorable Jacqueline Amongin, on Saturday, exchanged wedding vows with her husband Achelles Lubega. Bank of Uganda has issued a directive to supervised financial institutions, including commercial banks, requiring them to cease outsourcing company secretary roles, The Ugandan Wire has learned. The directive, as outlined in the Bank of Uganda Annual Report for 2023, is motivated by the need to restrict access to sensitive and confidential information and to bolster corporate governance within these institutions. The Parliament select committee investigating the mismanagement of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has dismissed allegations of financial loss on select investment projects in their report tabled in Parliament on 2nd March 2023. These projects include the investment in MTN, Quality Chemicals, construction of Mbuya Citadel apartments and the Fund’s land in Mbarara. Regarding the investment in MTN and Quality Chemicals, the committee observed that the Fund’s participation in equity purchase in both companies was in conformity with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and Uganda Security Exchange (USE) rules.
