Jimmy Kirunda, Uganda Crane’s captain in the 1978 AFCON final has passed on aged 70. Mr. Kirunda was a defender and he was part of five of Uganda’s African Nations qualifying campaigns and captained in three of the final tournaments with the most oustanding being the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ghana, where he guided the Uganda Cranes to the final. He later on became national team manager between 1989 and 1996. There is no scientific cause of death mentioned at the moment but he died after collapsing Hotel La Grande in Bwaise today. Uganda has hit the 198 mark of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections after Health officials confirmed 23 more cases yesterday. In a tweet by the Ministry of Health, a total of 1,187 tests were carried out and out of these 851 were truck drivers while 336 were from local communities. “Today, 23rd May, 2020, 23 more COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, the total of confirmed cases are now 198. The president of Uganda, HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commissioned a Wargame Centre at the Senior Command and Staff College in Kimaka, Jinja District. The centre, according to Mr Museveni will contribute to a higher quality of training for the Ugandan army and is meant to benefit especially the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Special Forces Command (SFC).
