By now, I expect that we have all watched that footballing masterclass displayed by Uganda U-20 player and artiste Bebe Cool’s son, Alpha Thierry Ssali. If you haven’t, we have attached the video in the story.
Alpha (with respect to his shirt name choice, we have opted to use that instead of his last name) is by all standards a deeply talented footballer that we all pray achieves the heighest honours in the game. You can’t watch what he did in that Stanbic Uganda Cup game of Proline Vs MYDA FC and you stay the same.
I’ve told my friends that if an English kid did that in a lower league and it were documented on video like that, the hype he would get the next morning would have agents from the top most teams in Europe flexing for his signature.
I must say that Bebe Cool, as a father, has been very instrumental in nurturing his boy’s talent. Our government and education system have attached very little value to sport and have only favoured talent that requires no nurturing, yet like elsewhere in the world, some nurtured talent has proved to be some of the best (look at Cristiano Ronaldo).
Alpha managed to secure a chance to play for the senior team of his childhood club (Proline) and the game against MYDA FC was only the second since he was elevated. And boy did he impress!
The teenager, who came on in the 66th minute didn’t take long before producing absolute magic for his team, himself and a very proud father by the touchlines.
His moment of magic helped Proline to cruise to a 4-0 victory against MYDA FC. And gave his father, who has patiently watched his boy develop in football, a moment of pride.
“Great news as Alpha Thierry Ssali magnificently scores his first goal for proline football club during his second game in the Uganda Cup. Proline won 4:0 congz boys,” Bebe Cool posted on social media.
