Kampala, Uganda – Al-Mustafa Islamic College, in partnership with the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, successfully organized an interreligious dialogue event. The gathering, themed “Peace and Coexistence with the Different Other,” brought together a diverse group of participants, including religious leaders, academicians, and researchers.
“Interfaith dialogue is crucial in promoting understanding and respect among various faiths,” said Bishop Andrew Lugoloobi, IRCU Board Member. “We must work together to combat vices that affect us all.”
Ayatollah Seyyed Abdulfattah Navvab emphasized the importance of dialogue in preventing misinformation. “The holy Quran teaches us to speak to people in the best way, using wisdom to form civilized communities.”
Dr. Samuel Okok, Lecturer at Makerere University, highlighted the significance of cultural diversity. “Our divergent communities must come together to promote peace, harmony, and security.”
Counsel Umar Nyanzi, President of the Muslim Centre for Justice and Law, discussed Uganda’s constitution on religious freedom and expression. “We must respect and protect the rights of all faith communities,” he emphasized.
The event concluded with a call to action, urging participants to promote peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue in their communities.
