The Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi 11 turns 65 today.
Unlike other years when the Kabaka’s birthday celebration is a public affair, the 36th King of Buganda will celebrate the mileage in isolation due to the COVID-19 scare.
This year’s celebrations were to be held at Lubaga Cathedral but have since been cancelled for public safety. Over 50,000 people were expected to be present at the ceremony.
Not to be outdone however, the Katikiro of Buganda (Prime Minister) Mr Charles Peter Mayiga has rallied people to wear the Kabaka birthday run kits and take selfies wishing him good health and happiness as a sign of solidarity.
Kabaka Mutebi was born at Mulago Hospital, Kampala in 1955. He is the son of Sir Edward Fredrick Muteesa II who reigned between 1939 and 1969. His mother was Nabakyala Sarah Nalule.
The Kabaka is married and has five known children.
