The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has noted that 60.2% of the targeted Households have been covered in the on-going enumeration exercise for the National Population and Housing Census 2024.
“By the end of the 6th day of enumeration, 60.2 percent of the targeted Households had been covered,” Chris N Mukiza, the chief statician said.
The undertaking of the National Population and Housing Census 2024 enumeration, began on Friday 10th May 2024. Mukiza noted that the census will continue through Sunday 19th May 2024 at 11:59pm.
Mukiza noted that households and persons yet to be enumerated, will be enumerated within the 4 remaining days ending Sunday May, 19, 2024.
He revealed that challenges experienced on the first day where 20,000 Enumerators failing to login due to lack of access credentials, and missing Enumeration Areas in the system have since been resolved and enumeration is moving on smoothly across the country.
On the issue of training allowances, Mukiza sais payments for 63 districts have been effected for districts that shared the names of their enumerators, and been uploaded on the recruitment portal.
“All have received their money directly on their mobile phones as provided. The Local Governments that are yet to submit the names and details of the enumerators and supervisors have been asked to do so immediately to enable the Bureau process the training allowances,” he said.
Each Enumerator will receive UGX50,000 per day while a Parish Supervisor will receive UGX60,000 per day for 10 days of work, translating to a total of UGX500,000 for the Enumerator and UGX600,000 for the
Parish Supervisor upon successful completion of the enumeration exercise.
The Enumerator guides who are LC1 Chairpersons or their designate will be paid according to the rates prescribed for each given area.
All allowances will be paid through e-cash system directly on the mobile telephone number provided.
