Mr. Amlan Tumusiime, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Hoima District Local Government and head of the District COVID-19 Taskforce has banned cooking at funerals in Kikuube District.

Mr. Tumusiime, in an interview with The Ugandan Wire, said that the Taskforce has learnt that even with the current guidelines of just 20 people at the funerals, locals are violating to feast on foods prepared at the funerals.

President Museveni, in an address to the nation declaring the current COVID-19 lockdown said that not more than 20 people should be allowed at funerals – restricting it to only close family members.

However, the locals in Kikuube have had none of that and have been flocking funerals in large numbers to feast.

The District has so far lost some 16 people to the COVID-19 virus and over 60 are currently admitted with the same.
