The Democratic Party (DP) Presidential Candidate, Norbert Mao has asked
voters in Kigezi to vote for a president who will mend the relations between Uganda and Rwanda.

Rwanda closed its border with Uganda in February 2019, after it accused Ugandan authorities of abducting its citizens and locking them up in un-gazetted areas.

Rwanda also accused Uganda of hosting and facilitating dissidents especially Rwanda National Congress (RNC) and the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), which have declared war on the Kigali government. The talks to resolve the impasse are yet to yield positive results.

Addressing a press conference at Cephas Inn Kabale in Kabale Municipality over the weekend, Mao said that the border closure has left a number of people with no jobs since their lives were depending on the business at the border. He added that when elected, he will ensure that there is a good
relationship with Uganda and other countries.
