The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential flag bearer in 2021, and incumbent President Yoweri Museveni will be campaigning in Kumi District today ahead of the January 14th election.

Mr. Museveni is expected to meet NRM leaders in the district that will in turn champion the door-to-door campaigns that the party resorted to use in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kumi is also the home district of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag bearer Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi.

The people of Kumi, according to our reporters on the ground, hope that the President addresses especially their woes as regards land ownership and prices of agricultural produce.

President Museveni won in Kumi District in 2016 with just over 60% and his closest competitor then Dr. Kizza Besigye polled over 40%.

The President was in Soroti yesterday where he commissioned the Shs. 24Bn Soroti City Market that will house over 2,000 traders and function as a regional market for the greater Teso Region.
