The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate has once again clashed with security officers today in Mayuge on his campaign trail.

On Monday 16th November, NUP supporters were seen swimming through a swamp in Mayuge after security operatives blocked the road in an attempt to stop them from joining Bobi Wine procession. This, The Ugandan Wire learned, was in attempt to circle around the security officers and join the NUP candidate.

The Kyadondo East Member of Parliament had just addressed a rally where he pledged to review sugarcane prices and champion land reforms in Busoga sub-region if he is elected president.

Police and other security operatives had sealed off the road blocking Kyagulanyi’s procession. In photos that made rounds online on Monday afternoon, the security operatives were seen taking to firing positions with their guns pointing at a crowd of Bobi Wine’s supporters who were in procession after he had addressed a rally in Mayuge.

Moments later, the presidential candidate took to twiter and said’ “They tried to kill us, but we are living longer, they tried to weaken us but we are stronger by the grace of God.”

Kyagulanyi also quoted Nelson Mandela saying, “When people are determined, they can overcome anything”.

Bobi Wine commenced with his campaign trail travelling to Bugiri where his supporters awaited to meet him in the afternoon.
