After close to seven months under lock and key, President Museveni has announced that schools will be allowed to reopen on October 15th, 2020.

Speaking about the issue during his address to the nation, Museveni said that candidates in P7, S4 and S6 will be allowed to report back to school and finish their respective syllabi with the hope of sitting final year examinations.

Museveni also announced that finalists in tertiary institutions and university final year students will be allowed to report back on the same dates and go about their studies.

President Museveni ordered the closure of schools in March, earlier this year as a means of controlling the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus.

Since then, students have been at home hoping that the universities would open. Government announced distance learning with the promise to purchase radios for every homestead and two TV sets for each village in the country.
