The Chief Political Commissar of the Uganda Police and former spokesperson of the force Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasigye has revealed that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The jolly and sociable police officer made the unfortunate announcement on social media platform Twitter, where has been a sweetheart for years now and was voted President of Ugandans on Twitter (UoT).

His revelation, that was as short as “BAD NEWS!! I AM #COVID19 POSITIVE” has since attracted lots of attention of social media users that are heaping words of comfort on the police boss to help him through the recovery process.

Aside from his Police work, AIGP Kasingye is a down-to-earth man with a free spirit. With more than 150,000 followers on Twitter, he has been branded the “Twitter Cop” or “Tweeting Cop.”

Kasingye was born on March 23, 1964 to Robinah and John Kairukabi of Kibingo Hill village, Sheema district. He is the first born of 12 children – eight boys and four girls, although one girl passed on.

He went to Kibingo Primary School, St Andrew Kaggwa High School Bushenyi and thereafter joined Makerere University for a degree in Economics and Political Science. He has served in the police force for 31 years now.
