Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli is at it again as he has disregarded the wearing of masks in his country.

He says the masks are causing a lot of anxiety hence affecting business in the East African country. As a way of stabilizing the economy, he has further ordered public transport firms to resume and has given the same order to the schools.

He has also opened tourist flights, a move that experts say is obstructing the strategies laid by regional health professionals in terms of containing the spread of the virus.

His argument is that people’s immunity lowers by 30% when locked up opposing the herd immunity philosophy that stipulates contact as a vessel to the contraction of the disease.

Magufuli, who rejected calls for a lockdown, spoke from the capital of Dodoma in the presence of his Ministers who were also not wearing masks. He further asserted that the COVID-19 infections are declining with out giving an update on the number of infections.

Tanzania as a state hasn’t updated its infection numbers since April 29. Magufuli said that foreign tourism will be open from next week, though all tourists shall have to be quarantined first.

University education and sporting activities are due to start in June. The government cancelled the opening of a 1000 bed COVID-19 facility in Dar-es-salaam after a sharp decline in the numbers of the virus infections, Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu said blantly, with no supporting data.

The president further sought the testing of all equipment donated to the country before they’re distributed to the public.

The leader in the past questioned the reliability of the test results from the national laboratory and ordered an investigation into the outbreak.
He concluded by welcoming aid, warning all donors that are to donate pro COVID-19 equipment of charges on murder.
